[Setagaya] Dyeing and Weaving Workshop - Plum and Sappan -
January is a month when hearts dance and spirits tighten as the new year begins. In the fresh light and cool breeze of the new year, the colors of plants and trees shine even more brilliantly. Enjoy the vibrant colors of plants in the crisp, cool air.
In January 2026, we will be dyeing plum and safflower. Plum blossoms, which bloom despite the cold winds, are a symbol of early spring. The branches just before the flowers bloom give off a delicate pale pink that is reminiscent of the fragrance of plums. Safflower is a legume tree native to the south. When its core wood is shaved and dyed, it produces a deep, passionate red. Enjoy the colors of these plants, which will warm your heart during the cold season.
