Greetings
Atelier Shimura was established in 2016 as a dyeing and weaving brand that inherits the artistic spirit of dyeing and weaving artists Fukumi Shimura and Yoko Shimura and connects it to the next generation. Based on our brand concept of "Into Nature and Art", we work hard every day at Midori Kobo in Sagano, Kyoto, surrounded by beautiful nature, creating kimonos, obi, accessories, and other items using seasonal vegetable dyes and handlooms. In addition to production and sales, we also actively create opportunities to learn and think about the rich culture and ideas centered on dyeing and weaving and crafts through workshops, learning groups, lectures, and sometimes dyeing and weaving tours.
In today's rapidly changing world, the handicraft work of taking color from plant life and weaving it on a handloom conveys ancient wisdom to us, and at the same time, it seems to ask what true wealth is. Atelier Shimura cherishes its encounters with you, and hopes to be a brand that is always open to the creation of new value.
We sincerely hope that you will continue to pay attention to Atelier Shimura's activities and provide your warm support.

Symbol mark
The symbolic mark represents the veins of a leaf. It symbolizes that everything created in the workshop is made from things given to us by nature. The base color is grey. It is a color that "eliminates itself and brings out the colors of others," and is a mysterious color that can be dyed from almost all the plants found in the mountains and fields of Japan, such as yashabushi, chestnuts, cherry blossoms, white oak, and loquats. We entrust the feelings of Atelier Shimura to this grey color.
