Atelier Shimura is currently running a series on " THE KYOTO," a platform that disseminates traditional culture and crafts from Kyoto, as well as useful tips for daily life.
In the second episode of the Shikon series, silk threads are carefully passed through a Shikon dye solution, and then mordanted with lye extracted from camellia wood ash to fix the color. The video captures the change in hue as the threads are dyed. A kimono from Atelier Shimura that incorporates Shikon will also be on display, so please come and take a look.
