Atelier Shimura is currently running a series on " THE KYOTO," a platform that disseminates information on traditional culture and crafts from Kyoto, as well as useful tips for daily life.
The plum blossom season has begun. At Seiryoji Temple near the workshop, plum trees associated with Izumi Shikibu, a poet of the Heian period, are in bloom. The dye liquid that has been boiled for two days slowly wafts through the silk threads, releasing a fragrant, noble scent. The threads, which have turned a pale pink color thanks to the mordant, look as cute as a shyly smiling young girl. Please come and have a look.
