[Atelier Shimura Gallery & School Opens in Setagaya, Tokyo] Letter of Colors and Words 2025 Issue 11
On April 12, 2025, Atelier Shimura opened a new store in Setagaya, Tokyo. Located in Soshigaya, this area is known for being the prewar home of ceramic artist Kenkichi Tomimoto, where he dedicated his ceramics career. Fukumi Shimura also resides in the Musashino region, having moved from Omihachiman to Kichijoji as an adopted daughter in her youth. The "purple root" we use as a dye is the root of the purple grass, a plant that once grew wild on the Musashino Plateau. The Kokin Wakashū (Collection of Ancient and Modern Poetry) contains the following poem: "Just a single purple root makes the entire Musashino grass seem so lovely."
In this place where various connections come together, Atelier Shimura will continue to expand its circle of activities. We hope you will stop by and visit us.

YUKI FUJIWARA × atelier shimura Collaboration Sweets Seasonal Sweets "Spring - Gardenia"
This confection was created in collaboration with Japanese confectionery designer YUKI FUJIWARA, who expresses the changing scenery and beautiful words of the four seasons through Japanese sweets. "Shiki no Ka" is an amber sugar that expresses the seasonal colors of plants. Due to popular demand, following on from last year, we will be releasing it four times a year: spring, summer, autumn and winter.
"Spring - Gardenia" is the yellow of gardenia, evocative of the warm spring sunshine. The flavor is Setouchi lemon, grown under the bounty of the sun. We hope you can feel the arrival of spring through the warm, luminous color and refreshing, sweet and sour taste.
Limited quantities are available for purchase at Atelier Shimura Tokyo, Setagaya, and online store.
