[November Workshop - A Workshop to Dye the Deepening Autumn] Color and Words Newsletter 2025 No. 20
2025/09/05
Late autumn is the season when the harvest of crops and fruits slows down and preparations for winter begin. In November, we will be preparing dyes that are unique to this season, with a slight chill in the wind and air, and we look forward to your participation.[Setagaya] Dyeing and Weaving Workshop -Kusaoki-
The dye for November is kusagi (stink tree). At this time of year, the stink tree bears blue fruit, giving it a clear light blue color reminiscent of the blue sky of late autumn. Shimura Fukumi cherishes this plant and calls it "heavenly blue." The fruit is like a jar filled with the blue of the heavens, and it seems to evoke the atmosphere of the coming winter. Why not join us for a moment to share this blessing from heaven?
