Atelier Shimura Tokyo/Setagaya Dyeing and Weaving Workshop
At our new shop in Setagaya, Tokyo, we offer a variety of dyeing and weaving workshops, from half-day dyeing experiences to those that take several days or months to thoroughly deepen your dyeing and weaving. Enjoy the world of plant dyeing and weaving at your own pace while feeling the light and breeze passing through the garden trees.


<New Course>
A three-month course to learn Shimura's dyeing and weaving philosophy -Weaving my own colors-
This is a new course where you can learn Shimura dyeing and weaving in earnest in 3 months. You can choose 18 days out of the designated 3 months to attend and learn the basics and philosophy of Shimura dyeing and weaving through the process from preparing the loom to dyeing and weaving. This course is recommended for those who want to take their time and learn dyeing and weaving in a more serious way.

Half-day vegetable dyeing course - An encounter with light, wind and color -
This is a half-day course where you can dye pongee threads and silk stole with seasonal plant colors. Even if you are new to plant dyeing, you are welcome to join us. If you choose pongee thread dyeing, you can also weave the threads into another course.

One-day vegetable dyeing and weaving course - Playing the sounds of thread -
This is a one-day course where you can dye pongee thread in the morning and experience weaving in the afternoon. You can enjoy weaving not only the colors dyed that day, but also the abundant plant-dyed colors we have prepared here. Recommended for those who are new to weaving.

Two-day stole weaving course -Wear the colors of plants-
This is a two-day course in which you will use colored warp threads to weave a 180cm shawl. Although dyeing will not be included, you will be free to weave colored threads dyed in other courses or threads provided at the venue. This is recommended for those who are accustomed to weaving and those who want to make wearable items.

Two-month course to weave your own obi *This is a course in partnership with Otonami
This is a course that you will attend for 12 days over a two-month period, and you will weave a kimono long enough to be used as an obi. The first time you attend, you will use white warp threads, but those who have attended more than once will be able to weave with colored warp threads. This course is recommended for those who love kimonos.
