[Special Online Discussion] Yamashina Motochika, the 30th Head of the Yamashina School of Clothing and Clothing, and Masashi Shimura
To celebrate the 6th anniversary of Atelier Shimura, we will be holding a special online talk. We will invite people who are familiar with Atelier Shimura to talk with Atelier Shimura's representative, Masashi Shimura, about the ideas, culture, and art behind our work.
In this discussion, we have invited Yamashina Tokichika, the 30th head of the Yamashina school of Emondo, which carries on the traditions of preparing and wearing the costumes worn at the Imperial Court, to talk about costumes and colors, with a focus on forbidden colors.
*Kinjiki are colors that were forbidden to be used by anyone other than the Emperor and the nobility at the Japanese Imperial Court.

Tokichika Yamashina
The young head of the Yamashina school of kimono. Representative director of the Yamashina Yusoku Research Institute and a researcher at the Doshisha University Imperial Court Culture Research Center. He is the 30th successor to the Yamashina family (former nobles) who have passed down the tradition of making and wearing the "shozoku" (costumes worn at the Imperial Court) for generations. He performs kimono at the three imperial festivals "Kasuga Festival," "Kamo Festival," and "Iwashimizu Festival," as well as the "Reiwa Imperial Ceremony . "
He has appeared on NHK's "Sunday Art Museum" and other media, and has also researched the customs of historical programs. He supervises lectures on the subject of court culture at Genpo-in, the former Yamashina family residence, and serves as an advisor on lectures and creative matters for companies, government agencies, and cultural organizations. He was selected as a Global Shapers by the World Economic Forum (Davos Conference). He was born in Kyoto City in 1995 and is currently enrolled in the Kyoto University Graduate School.

Shoji Shimura
Representative of the dyeing and weaving brand Atelier Shimura, special lecturer at the art school ARS Shimura
Born in Kyoto in 1972. Completed doctoral studies at the Graduate School of Law, Kyoto University.
After working as an assistant professor at Kyoto University and a visiting researcher at a British university, she founded the art school "Ars Shimura" with her grandmother, Shimura Fukumi, and her mother, Shimura Yoko, in 2013, and the dyeing and weaving brand "Atelier Shimura" in 2016.
