[Okura Museum of Art, Tokyo] "Special Exhibition: Shimura Fukumi's 100th Birthday Celebration - From "Autumn Mist" to "End of the Field""

A retrospective exhibition commemorating Shimura Fukumi's 100th birthday will be held at the Okura Museum of Art in Tokyo from November. The exhibition will feature "Autumn Mist," which inspired Fukumi to embark on the path of dyeing and weaving; "End of the Field II," in which she reminisces about her younger days as she approaches her 100th birthday; and costumes from "Okimiya," a new Noh play based on an original work by Ishimure Michiko, which conveys a message to the next generation. The exhibition will also focus on Fukumi's mother, Ono Yutaka, who led her down the path of dyeing and weaving, and her folk art spirit, as well as her brother Ono Motoe, a painter who died young and who nurtured Fukumi's artistic spirit.
Related events to the exhibition will include a special lecture by Yoko Shimura and a gallery tour with meal at the Okura Tokyo, so please invite your friends and join us.
