− About the collection "Mirror" −
When did humans acquire such a mysterious thing as a mirror?
As in the "Three Sacred Treasures," the mirror is also a symbol of God, and so sometimes a hidden world is reflected in the mirror, but most of the time we remain unaware of it.
In the collection "Mirror," I have endeavored to capture the moment when words, nature, kimono, and models all work together to reveal the naked figure. The result is a very beautiful and unusual book.
I sincerely hope that as many people as possible will read this book, for the sake of all those who have united their hearts in creating it.

There are dyeing and weaving works that reflect the natural scenery as it is. There are also dyeing and weaving works that reflect imaginary worlds or scenery inside the mind - images of the mind. Shimura Yoko is an artist who has sought to dye and weave the landscapes of her own mind. For Shimura Yoko, who has inherited the "Shimura colors" of silk pongee thread dyed with vegetable dyes from her grandmother Ono Yutaka and mother Shimura Fukumi, dyeing and weaving is synonymous with dyeing and weaving her own life, and her works are a "mirror" of her images of the mind. This book is a compilation of Shimura Yoko's works, from her earliest works born from her unique worldview to her latest works, using Natsume Soseki's short story "Kiroko" as an image source.
