Kuzu: A creeping legume plant that grows profusely on roadsides in summer. It was named after the place name Kuzu in Nara Prefecture. The roots are used to make edible kudzu starch and the herbal medicine kudzu root. The vines and leaves are boiled and dyed to produce a pale green color.
