We have always been fascinated by another world that exists behind the vividly colored world of plants. It is a world of achromatic colors, dominated by gray. Every plant contains elements of gray, which give subtle shadows to the plant's colors, but the gray itself never appears on the surface. It is always there to support the colors from the shadows. I think that the aesthetic sense of Junichiro Tanizaki's "In Praise of Shadows" actually applies well to plants.
At the special exhibition "Moonlit Forest" by AFLO+ and Atelier Shimura, we will be exhibiting and selling accessories made from plant-dyed threads and fabrics. By expressing the achromatic world seen under the moonlight, we hope you will be able to feel the charm of the gray colors of plants.
Plants under the moonlight show a different appearance from their daytime appearance. It takes us to an invisible, imaginary world. We hope you will enjoy seeing another world of plants.

What is AFLO+?
Beautiful imaginary plants are born from a single thread and piece of cloth. Afroplus handcrafts each piece with a plant motif. Using Kyoto's traditional silk thread as the main material, the pieces are delicate yet striking, making use of texture and color. Based in Kyoto, the brand creates elegant accessories, objets d'art, and wedding items that are not too sweet, and presents them at solo exhibitions and sales events.
