[Opening April 12, 2025] Atelier Shimura Gallery & School, Setagaya, Tokyo

On April 12th, Atelier Shimura Tokyo Setagaya opened in a new, expanded location.
Soshigaya is a place associated with folk art, where the kiln of potter Kenkichi Tomimoto, who was Shimura Fukumi's spiritual mentor, was once located, and is an attractive area where culture and nature coexist in harmony. The new store is a modern Western-style building with a larger space, including a weaving workshop, dyeing room, gallery, Japanese-style room, and garden, and is accessible from both the Odakyu Line and the Keio Line.
The area is also home to a bustling shopping district, Soshigaya Park, and Roka Koshun-en Garden. We hope you will deepen your knowledge of dyeing and weaving while feeling the leisurely flow of time in this lush green space.
The gallery space on the first floor will host a permanent exhibition and sale of Atelier Shimura's kimonos, obi, and accessories, as well as special exhibitions of artists with ties to Atelier Shimura and talk events featuring a variety of guests.
The current special exhibition features tea ceremony accessories and frames made from small cloth pieces, as well as cloth albums, all created by Shimura Fukumi.
