Atelier Shimura is currently running a series on "THE KYOTO," a platform that disseminates traditional culture and crafts from Kyoto, as well as useful tips for daily life.
This is the second installment of the loquat series. When thread dyed with loquat is mordanted with lye , it turns a pale red color that is similar to the fruit, as if it is bathed in the brightness of the summer sun. The pale red color can be dyed from various plants other than loquats. Please take a look at the colored threads of loquats and the pale red color dyed from the sap of plants.
