Sarusuberi: It got its name because its bark is smooth. Its kanji characters, "100-day-old cranes," are used because it blooms with bright red and white flowers for a long period of time. The dye made by boiling the branches and leaves is a thick brown color, and when thread is dyed with it, it turns a brownish gray color.
