Born in 1924. Textile artist and essayist. At the age of 31, under the guidance of her mother, Yutaka Ono, she began weaving with vegetable dyes and tsumugi thread. She is a holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure), a Person of Cultural Merit, recipient of the 30th Kyoto Prize in the Arts and Philosophy category, and recipient of the Order of Culture.
