Yutaka Ono (1895-1984) was influenced by his friend, the ceramist Kenkichi Tomimoto's wife Kazue, and became deeply involved with Muneyoshi Yanagi's Mingei Movement, which began in the 1920s. He joined the Kamigamo Mingei Kyodan, which was putting the Yanagi Mingei Movement's ideas into practice at the time, and received instruction in dyeing and weaving from dyeing and weaving artist Goryo Aota.
