We will be holding a collaborative exhibition with kras , a craft lifestyle brand that produces and sells original furniture and miscellaneous goods , focusing on traditional Japanese and Indonesian handicrafts . Kyoto and Bali have different natural environments and cultures, but they share a common ground in their views of nature and handicrafts. This exhibition, with the theme of "Mixing Seasons," expresses the commonalities between the two places through small cloth woven with plant dyes by Atelier Shimura and ata baskets handcrafted one by one by kras . Small boxes, trinket holders, and other items will be on display and for sale, with a focus on tea baskets.
In addition, as a New Year's special, we will exhibit two "Mountain Baskets" with the motif of Mount Fuji, which is considered to be a lucky motif for the New Year, and Mount Agung, also known as Bali's Mount Fuji. In addition, we will exhibit two tea baskets with the image of the four seasons of Kyoto and Bali.

You can choose from six different sizes and shapes of baskets. There are square (small, medium, large), oval (medium, large), and round (medium). After choosing whether you want a tea basket with or without strings, you can combine it with Atelier Shimura's ki-re. Choose from small ki-re in a variety of colors and patterns. If you want a tea basket with strings, we have several specially made braids by Noboru Kumihimo in Uji.
- A 100-year-long product
Kras' atta baskets are made in Tenganan Village, one of the few villages in Bali that still preserves the ancient customs and lifestyles of the island, using traditional methods handed down from ancient times. Atta ferns that grow wild in the mountains are harvested and thoroughly dried. After that, skilled craftsmen take their time to weave the baskets tightly and without gaps. The finished product is dried in the sun for a week and smoked in coconut shells. The coconut oil that dissolves in the smoke permeates every corner of the atta basket, making it resistant to moisture, flexible and durable. Coconut oil is resistant to oxidation and has insect repellent properties, and is said to last for 100 years. With continued use, the color will become darker and more intense, aging beautifully. If it gets dirty, brush off the dirt, rinse it quickly with water, and dry it in the shade in a well-ventilated place.
