Atelier Shimura 10th Anniversary Exhibition & Sale: "A Festival of Color — Blooming Radiance —"

"In the spring garden, the peach blossoms glow crimson." The word "nihohu" (to glow/radiate) used in the Manyoshu does not refer to scent, but rather to the way a color shines with brilliant beauty. People of ancient times saw the light of life radiating in the colors of flowers and in the sky at dawn.
Atelier Shimura was established in November 2016 as a brand to carry on the artistic spirit of dyer and weaver Fukumi Shimura, and thanks to you, we are now celebrating our 10th anniversary. We have continued our journey to this day, cherishing the philosophy of "receiving the colors of plant life."
The theme of this exhibition is the shifting light within a single day. "Dawn," when the darkness unravels and the world quietly awakens. "Dusk," where many colors of light blend, wavering in the transition between day and night. "Moonlight," where a soft glow blossoms amidst the deep dark. We will be debuting three new pieces that capture the essence of these three moments, expressed through plant-dyed silk threads woven into hand-woven tsumugi.
The life of the plants dwelling in the threads radiates as color. We invite you to visit our gallery in Setagaya.
